GPP Display

As part of my GPP placement I was required to create a display that showed off the children's work. As I started in the school the children in my class were beginning to start a new Literacy topic on Traditional Tales, looking at Little Red Riding Hood and The Gingerbread Man stories. I took this opportunity to create a display around this topic as the children were going to be carrying out some lovely written pieces based around the stories and also create their own St Philip's Gingerbread Man story.

This picture is the start of the board coming to life......

The silver part on the picture below, to the right, is the outline of a castle. I was able to place word banks on this castle that linked to Traditional Tales but also fitted nicely into their topic in the Spring term of Fairytales.

The children carried out written pieces of work, retelling the stories of both the Gingerbread Man story and Little Red Riding Hood. They also sequenced the events from the stories, using their pictures from a previous Drama session. In addition the children had to describe a character from the story and draw a corresponding picture to go along with their descriptions. Finally the children had to write their own St Philip's Gingerbread Man story. Pieces of these work I used to place on the board, along with placing some material and lights above to increase the Fairytale theme and make the Reading Corner more comfortable for the children to be in. I also created some bunting to make the Reading Corner more noticeable and distinguishable within the room.
