Animation
Animation can be used within the primary classroom in order to allow children to create their own videos related to a specific topic being covered or could be used as an enahced presentation. There are a variety of apps and tools now available on the Internet that allow children to create such animations.
I played around with one called PowToon, a website that is free of charge that allows children to make animations from the templates provided. These animations allow you to put images, music and voice over onto the document which can then be shared with the class. There are a variety of templates readily available on the website, allowing children to pick the one that best suits their theme or topic. These woruld also be great to use as a 'Wow' factor to start a piece of work or investigations.
I especially liked the 'Mission Pack' as I feel I could use this in my final placement with my Year 5 class in order to create an atmosphere for a Maths or Science lesson in which they have to solve the problems in order to complete the mission. I feel that by giving the pupils a real problem and challenge, enhanced by the animation in place at the start of the lesson, the children may be more engaged and willing to complete the work to solve the problem.
