Computing Audit

This page is to record how I use Computing each week, developing over time and with more practice in school. The page will allow me to record all the events where I have had to use a piece of compuitng software to complete a task or to find out information regarding the course.

Week 1

In my first week I have:

  • Set up my own website (Ta-dah!)

  • Created a profile on the Manchester Children's Literature Wiki site and contributed to it by placing a book on it.

  • Naviagated Blackboard to locate the different pieces of work from all areas of the course

Targets for next week:

  • Set up a blogging space so I can record each week and the aspects I have enjoyed from the week and the parts I can take into my teaching.

  • Add the ICT Pledge to the website and sign and date it

Week 3

In my third week I have:

  • Contributed to the Children's Literature Wiki site

  • Written up about the Science Conference lesson and my opinions about it and whether I would use it in the future with my own class

  • Written a Step-By-Step Guide on how to add books to the Wiki site, for those who may wonder what the benefits are for using such a site

  • Located sources on the Internet in relation to a presentation we had to deliver within our tutor groups

Targets for next week:

  • Have a look online on how I can carry out safe computing within the classroom and the guidelines I should be advising the children about when using the Computer

  • Add to my blog space

Week 5

In my fifth week I have:

  • Contributed to the Children's Literature Wiki Site

  • Written up my Numeracy lesson plan for when I teach it next week to a Year 5 class.

  • Looked online for Numeracy resources that can be used withi the lesson to help us ilicitate how the children learn in relation to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

  • Filled in a Missed Sessions form

Targets for next week:

  • Get my files sorted and all the relevant documentation printed off to go into my files for GPP.

  • Look into the National Curriculum for my expected year group in GPP

Week 7

Week 2

In my second week I have:

  • Submitted a piece of work using an online system

  • Contributed to the Children's Literature Wiki site

  • Added the ICT Pledge to this website

  • Have attended a video conference in Science

  • Added a blogging page where I can openly discuss my opinions to the different lessons I have expereinced each week

Targets for next week:

  • Write up about the Science video conference

  • Add more to my blog space

  • Reasses my own knowledge of computing

Week 4

In my fourth week I have:

  • Contributed to the Children's Literature Wiki site

  • Looked at the University of Manchester's compulsory module on Internet Safety to understand how I need to encourage and model using the Internet safely when in schools.

  • Started to work on gathering data and resources online to which I need for my first University assignment.

Targets for next week:

  • Look into the PDR audit section of the course in order to understand how this needs to be completed at the beginning of next month.

  • Add some books to the Children's Literature Wiki site as I know once I start on my first placement I will find it difficult to find the time.

  • Write up a lesson plan for the Maths lesson we are expected to teach to Year 5 pupils on

Week 6

In my sixth week I have:

  • Contributed to the Children's Literature Wiki Site

  • Looked into the school in which I will be in for my first placement in order to understand what the school's ethos is and overall mission.

  • Compiled a file of documents I will need for when I start in my first placement and have organised my documents accordingly so that I can find these files easily.

  • Completed the first Assingment and submitted it on Blackboard prior the deadline.

Targets for next week:

  • Type up and produce my own lesson plans for the following week as I am expected to teach 1 Numeracy, 1 Literacy, 1 other subject and 1 Phonics as I am in a Year 1 classroom

  • Look at resources that may help me in my first week of teaching such as resources that we can use within the classroom and look for ideas for creating a display (a target for GPP)

In my seventh week I have:

  • Started my GPP placement in a Year 1 class so this week has been spent observing the class and getting to know all the children within it and the way the classroom is run on a daily basis

  • Looked at the Long term medium plans for the class in order to see what we are expected to teach in the following weeks leading up to Christmas

  • Completed parts of our tasks for GPP

  • Looked at how ICT is not taught explicity within the class but is used on a daily basis so that children do have that experience with computers and how to use them for learning purposes.

Targets for next week:

  • From now until Christmas there will be less focus on carrying out independent learning regarding computing as our time will solely be spent on lesson planning and carrying out taks on our GPP placement. I will however try and update this site as much as possible to reflect the Computing aspects of the lessons we are carrying out within the class and the resources that the children use on a daily basis that help them learn computing and other subjects.

  • The majority of our computing will now be formed from daily lesson plans, Teaching Assistant Forms, Weekly Lesson Plans Overviews and Professional Development Record updates.
